Obtain a License

At Indiana University, to get a communications license for Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Service Cloud:

  • Identify team administrators who can act as the first line of support for your unit.
  • Identify a minimum of two (2) users in your department, and make sure they have the IU Acceptable Use Agreement and FERPA compliance form on file.
  • Assess all lists and subscribers that could migrate to the Marketing Cloud.
  • Determine whether any newsletters require subscriber web form or newsletter (HTML or WCMS) modifications?
  • Start a tentative or ad hoc schedule of email sends to begin transitioning to the new tool.
  • Start backing up or archiving historic data in your legacy tool.
  • Create or identify department group accounts to use when sending email.
  • Create S/MIME certificates to use with those group email accounts.
  • Submit the New Adopter Licensing MOU forms to request access for your organization. (Current adopters can use these forms to request additional user licenses for Service Cloud and/or Marketing Cloud.)
  • Suggested that users attend training when accounts are created.
