Obtain a License

At Indiana University, to get a communications license for Salesforce Marketing Cloud and/or Service Cloud:

  • Identify team administrators who can act as the first line of support for your unit.
  • Identify a minimum of two (2) users in your department, and make sure they have the IU Acceptable Use Agreement and FERPA Tutorial and CRM User Agreement on file.
  • Assess all lists and subscribers that could migrate to the Marketing Cloud.
  • Determine whether any newsletters require subscriber web form or newsletter (HTML or WCMS) modifications?
  • Start a tentative or ad hoc schedule of email sends to begin transitioning to the new tool.
  • Start backing up or archiving historic data in your legacy tool.
  • Create or identify department group accounts to use when sending email.
  • Create S/MIME certificates to use with those group email accounts.
  • New adoptors must submit the New Adopter Licensing MOU forms to request access for your organization. (Current adopters can use this form to request additional user licenses for Service Cloud and/or Marketing Cloud.)
  • It is suggested that users attend training when accounts are created.
